Under the direction of Fire Chief Jimmy Smith, the Honea Path Fire Department participated in a house fire training burn on Shirley Avenue next to McCoy Lumber Company.
Walk with the Docs event was scheduled to take place Saturday morning in Honea Path, however, the inclement weather forced its cancellation.

“At 9:45 this morning we had severe rain and lightning,” volunteer coordinator Renee McCormick said. “We just didn’t want to jeopardize anyone’s health.”  According to Ms. McCormick, the Honea Path event raised $11,000.

Despite the announcement of the cancellation over the radio, roughly 40 volunteers and participants still met at the Honea Path Middle School football field ready to walk. Those that came out enjoyed a short respite from the foul weather and walked an honorary four laps around the football field.
